 The Ukrainan mobile operator Kyivstar has chosen Reach-U LBS middleware, GIS Engine and applications to provide location-based services to its 20 million plus customers.
Kyisvtar has successfully launched Mobile Map, Friend Finder and Family Finder applications. The applications were launched with a short time difference to enable an end-user get used to the location-based services concept and feel comfortable with the idea of locating a person by positioning a mobile phone location.
Family Finder under the product name Mayachok was introduced in late summer of 2007 and had an immediate success on the market. Tens of thousands customers use Family Finder application on a daily basis generating very steady and stable cash flow to the mobile operator.
Family Finder service which is based on charging a client on a principle pay-as-you-go has proved itself to be a useful and an attractive service to customers. The concerned parents check on a daily bases where their kids are. Equally, grown-up children with elderly parents make sure that the grandma or grandpa has reached the location she/he supposed to be as planned.
